Sean Kanan

Sean Kanan was born on November 2nd, 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up in New Castle, Pennsylvania. At 13 he began the disciplined practice of karate and kick-boxing. He avoided the stage in high school and instead tried his hand on stage at local comedy clubs. He eventually performed in such venues as The Comedy Store, The Improv, Dangerfield's, Catch a Rising Star, and The Funny Bone.

While a political science major at Boston University he took extra-curricular acting classes and sought work on locally filmed television shows; he landed his first role in an episode of Spenser for Hire. That taste was enough for Sean Kanan, he transferred to UCLA and pursued acting full time.

As an undergraduate at UCLA he answered an open call for director John Avildsen's feature film Karate Kid III and landed the co-starring role opposite Ralph Macchio. Sean Kanan is well recognized from his role as the wealthy AJ Quartermaine on ABC's General Hospital. More recently he played the mysterious Jude Cavanaugh on Sunset Beach, the first daytime drama from executive producer Aaron Spelling on NBC. Sean is currently portraying Deacon Sharpe on The Bold and The Beautiful.

Sean Kanan made his stage debut in the Los Angeles production of Irish Coffee at The Burbage Theatre. He also produced and played the part of Austin in, the Sam Shephard classic True West at The Zephyr Theater in Los Angeles.

Sean Kanan has recently appeared in several films including The Chaos Factor, Chump Change and Crash Point Zero (aka Extreme Limits). He formed his own production company, Kanan-Hammerschlag Productions, and is producing as well as starring in the films March and Chasing Holden.

During his spare time, Sean enjoys honing his martial arts skills and writing poetry, plays and screenplays.
